PROFILED BY DE GROOTS MEDIALooking at the clientele of this O’Connor institution, it’s quite hard to categorise All Bar Nun. On the left, a large delegation of students with their bikes, fresh from uni – on the right, a mix of public servants, construction workers, policemen and scuba club members. Offering something for everyone, it’s obvious that this bar is moving well beyond the standard of local watering hole. A total of twelve quality beers are offered on tap including Coopers and Beez Neez. And with a nicely integrated restaurant out the back, now everybody can enjoy a square meal with their pint.
While a step above the usual pub fare of chips and gravy, the menu doesn’t break any boundaries. With an inauthentic range of Tapas (aka expensive entrees) such as salt and pepper squid and vegetable spring rolls, try the delicious pizzas instead. Come early in the week and nab a pizza with a pint for only $15 – the fungi (blue cheese, mushrooms and Spanish onion) and the All Bar Nun version of the supreme left me begging for more. The burgers are respectable but the fish and chips are a bit pricey. However with a vibrant atmosphere, extensive bar and friendly service, All Bar Nun’s menu is a decent accompaniment to an engaging night at the pub.
