PROFILE BY BEST RESTAURANTS
Slip down the sandstone stairs and fall into the arms of a warm Italian at Fratelli Fresh. Fratelli has established a unique retail/restaurant concept on the Sydney dining scene – with outlets in Walsh Bay, Waterloo, Potts Point and the CBD. Hidden in the depths of an old sandstone building in the heart of Sydney's bustling CBD, Fratelli on Bridge Street exudes a romantic old world charm. There are several little nooks that make up the surprisingly large underground space – with two private dining areas, called Cuvee Louise dining room and Campari Bar.

There's a mozzarella bar for a quick post-work glass of pinot and an antipasto platter, plus a retail area where you can purchase some gourmet delights for your next dinner party. Got time to spare? Take a seat at Café Sopra and settle in for the evening. We recommend sharing a selection of dishes such as tomato and mozzarella salad, meatball orechiette and arancini. The staff, while helpful and energetic, are a little bit inexperienced so try to drag along a wine snob friend for advice in the beverage department.

Nice ambience, careful service, disappointing food. I chose: assorted salami, including ham, coppa, salame, spicy salami. Very young ham, without smell and without texture and taste. It was anyhow the best of the dish. Same for salami, one of which (the spicy) was better than the other because of the red chilly taste. There was also a few slices of a another type of cheese that I’m not sure what it was. It could have been lard or cheese! None of our choices had a significant taste. Rate out of 5= 1. As a main I have taken a spaghetti carbonara. Cooking was acceptable, taste insignificant, no cheese taste at all, pancetta too crispy.Rate out of 5= 2. Overall rate: 1. Sorry.

Great food, excellent atmosphere full of energy yet providing a haven for city workers. The service was fast efficient and friendly. Water was refilled without a request, portion sizes good for lunch, desserts fabulous, our lunch group will certainly return, congratulations Fratelli Fresh!
