Wedged between a laundry mat and a fast food store on Carrington street, the restaurant's unassuming location isn't a problem for hungry locals who flock to the venture for the colourful Thai cuisine. Albeit being one of the smallest Chat Thai ventures, the eatery is still smartly dressed with black tiled walls out the front of the shop and dark exposed brick parapets inside. Down lighting offsets the casual wooden furnishings, which are a melange of long communal tables and windowsill seating.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
Drawing inspiration from the streets and markets of Thailand, Chat Thai creates authentic Thai cuisine that is constantly evolving to embrace new regional flavours. An open kitchen turns out tangy bite-size starters of steamed wonton dumplings of chicken and prawns and dollops of fried fish cakes with pickled cucumber relish. The Ship Shore main has a coveted reputation consisting of a warm salad of chicken, pork, prawns and a fried egg, dressed with chilli jam, mint, coriander and Spanish onions. It is full-throttled in flavour like most of the main meals on offer.
