Ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas! Of course Best Restaurants is well aware that it’s not December. But the chill in the air and the country’s coldest winter in years have brought on all sorts of Christmas cravings. Luckily we’re not alone and a lot of restaurants are getting in on the act. Roasted turkeys with cranberry sauce, brandy Christmas puddings and all sorts of other festive delights are making an appearance among the fantastic July food and wine events.
Aside from festive feasting, make sure to keep Bastille Day on your foodie calendar. On 14 July chefs all over the country will be paying tribute to the storming of the infamous Parisian prison with delicious French cuisine – don’t miss it!
Now is also the time to start thinking about the real Christmas. Time is flying past and venues are booking out faster, so to make sure your company Christmas party isn’t left out in the cold, have a look on Best Venues.
Speaking of companies, we’d like to applaud all of you for making it through another financial year. If you’d like to follow suit and reward your staff for doing such a good job, why not treat them to a nice dinner out, a session at a spa or an experience of their choosing with a Universal Gift Certificate? Have a look at Best Gift Certificates for more information.
And, as our little gift for surviving the financial avalanche, we’d like to give you a chance to win some amazing prices. This month Best Restaurants will be giving away tickets to Taste of Melbourne and copies of Heston Blumenthal’s book Heston’s Fantastical Feasts.
Happy feasting!

Win a copy of Heston Blumenthal’s book Feasts!
This month, Best Restaurants and publishers Allen and Unwin are giving you the chance to get your hands on a copy of Heston Blumenthal's book Heston’s Fantastical Feasts, which is based on the television series Feast.
Having already recreated the impossible “Drink Me” potion from Alice in Wonderland and reinvented Henry VIII's mythical “Cockentrice”, Heston is back for a second series of six incredible new feasts inspired by history, literature and legend.
|
Each chapter charts the realisation of a feast, with its challenges and ideas, culminating with the final recipes. This time, the feasts are based on themes which range from the whimsical to the phantasmagorical: Willy Wonka Feast; Fairytale Feast; Edwardian Feast; Gothic Feast; 1970's Feast; and, Feast of the Future.
To view more, visit: www.allenandunwin.com
RRP: $55.00 To win a copy of this fabulous book, simply tell us about your upcoming special (and perhaps whimsical) occasions by posting an answer on our blog.
Competition closes 2pm Friday, 30 July 2010. *Terms and Conditions Apply. |
