Event Description: Let’s agree on something. Usually when there is talk of a degustation dinner, wine is involved. But what about people who prefer something a little stronger? Something drunk on the rocks? Something a little bit more James Bond? What about the whisky drinkers? Well, whisky drinkers, I have some good news for you. Every month, the Nant Distillery in Bothwell holds a dinner that matches whiskies from all over the world with the best of Tasmania’s produce. The next one, which is taking on a winter theme, will be held at the Old Mill complex on Saturday, 26 June from 6:30pm.
The Nant Distillery Winter Dinner will comprise of four courses, each of which will be paired with a whisky from somewhere around the world – from Scotland to Japan and everywhere in between. There will also be a couple of extras thrown in. For example, after the completion of the main course guests will be taken on a tour of the Nant Distillery to get a better idea of how the magic happens. Likewise, once the final course (dessert) is finished, guests will receive an invitation to a whisky masterclass at the bar. Here they will be given the opportunity to taste five to ten additional whiskies. The Nant Distillery Winter Dinner is $58 per person, not including beverages. The whiskies matched with dinner will be priced at $5 to $10 each. Entry to the post-dinner masterclass will be free however whisky samples will cost $5 per glass. Guests who wish to drink up can stay the night at the Nant Highland Lodge. Rates including continental breakfast start at $240 per night.
