Event Description: The historic Glenlyon Shire Hall, in the picturesque village of Glenlyon, only ten minutes from Daylesford, provides the setting to showcase the region's cool climate wines, fine food products and cooking demonstrations by chefs from local restaurants. Savour the flavours in heated marquees, enjoy the entertainment and soak up the village atmosphere.
There are now a total of 35 wine and food stalls, including established and contemporary restaurants, producers and wineries, mixed in with a handful of roving musicians and cooking demonstrations by renowned chefs.
The ever popular Closet Cooks Competition gives the locals a chance to show off their recipes, many closely guarded secrets, handed down over the generations.
The Glenlyon Food and Wine Fayre is now a major event on the food and wine enthusiasts' calendar, and buyers and lovers of food and wine alike will be enticed by all the samples on offer - including cheese, preserves, biscuits, olive oils, puddings and chocolates.
Winemakers present their latest vintages ranging from sparkling wines, chardonnay. pinot noir, shiraz and cabernets.
Held on Sunday, July 25 this year, the Glenlyon Fine Food and Wine Fayre, just ten minutes' drive from Daylesford or Malmsbury, offers a retreat from the winter cold with beautifully-decorated and heated marquees decked in winter foliage, the tempting fragrance of mulled wine, warming fare and good old-fashioned country hospitality.
Cost is $12.50 per person and includes a souvenir wine glass.
