Event Description: We all love a little spice in our life, a kick in our stride, some fire in our bellies. This summer, you don’t need a golden ticket to get into the Ginger Factory on the Sunshine Coast to enjoy all the goodies inside. Well-known for being one of Australia’s premier events which celebrates sumptuous food, a star-studded line-up of chefs and presenters, and subtropical gardening, the Ginger Flower Festival is in its 14th year and just keeps getting bigger and better. This year will see four deluxe cooking classes staged throughout the four-day event hosted by the restaurant’s head chef Andrew Strange.
Guest chefs include Michelin-starred Eric Van Alphen from the French Room restaurant in Woombye, who will teach the art of French provincial cooking, plus Kieran Reekie of Reserve Restaurant Cellar who will shine a spotlight on Euro/Italian cuisine. Each class runs for four hours in the kitchens which have been specially designed for groups. No class exceeds 24 people so you’re ensured a hands-on experience. The festival runs from Thursday, 22 January to Sunday, 25 January 2009. Tickets cost $155 for each class, including a personalised tutorial, lunch, wine matching and handout materials. Spots in the classes are highly sought-after so make sure you book ahead by calling (07) 5447 8465.
