Located on the first floor of the Rydges Jamison Hotel, this modern, sleek restaurant serves Australian cuisine executed with Italian and French techniques. The spacious restaurant is minimalist in style, with striking red chairs and tall ceilings, emphasised by the large windows over-looking the bustle of the city. Warm and comfortable furnishings and large tables make for an extremely pleasurable dining experience and the elevated position gives the feeling of being perched high above the city (and away from the daily grind).
Charred king prawns served with peri peri, tomato kasundi and goat’s curd, are delicious. Needless to say the steaks are fantastic, expertly cooked to your specifications and served with a delicious potato cake and a sauce of your choice. The wagyu rump is grain-fed for 400 days and served juicy and moist; perfect with a deep, rich glass of merlot. If you’re not in the mood for a steak, indulge in the twice-cooked duck with jasmine tea and honey, served on a bed of celeriac puree, potato fondant and roast quince. It tastes as good as it reads! Kilo-counting chocolate lovers beware; the white chocolate mousse is served with flourless mocha cake, dark chocolate sorbet and a cocoa nib tuille – a creation that would give Willy Wonka a run for his money.

Charr’s specialty prime ages steaks are all served with a potato cake and a choice of sauce, with cuts including King Island fillet of beef, Grainge rib-eye cutlet and Waygu 400 days on grain rump. For seafood lovers, dishes include grilled whole baby snapper with thyme, preserved lemon, kipfler potatoes and rosemary and charred ocean king prawns with peri peri, tomato kaskundi and goats cheese.

Seating 45 diners, Charr is available for function bookings and groups of 10 or less can enjoy dinner in the private dining area just off the main restaurant, enclosed if required with luxurious sheer curtains.
