Aussie Chefs continue to cook up a storm in London.

14/2/2012 - Chefs from Australia and New Zealand have imported their refreshing cuisine into London over the last eight years or so by using local ingredients and adding a touch of influence from both East and West to create their own unique style of cooking.

In a city where 1, 2 and 3 star Michelin Restaurants are on the increase, it’s taken a while for our best chefs to become established.

Thirty-year-old Shane Osborn is the co owner and chef at the intimate Pied A Terre – the first Australian Chef in London to be awarded a coveted Michelin star, and the only Australian Chef now with two Michelin Stars. Gordon Ramsay was his mentor, obvious in the mainly French inspired menu.

Australian-born restaurateur, food writer and television chef Bill Grainger has opened Grainger and Co. in trendy Notting Hill, following the success of his ventures in Sydney, Tokyo and Yokahama. His popularity in over 29 overseas cities with his UKTV television series will probably ensure his success in this latest venture. Eight books and a swag of family recipes presented on the UKTV Good Food channel and website appeal to those who just love good, fresh food to cook after a busy day at work and share with family and friends.
His latest book ‘Bill’s Everyday Asian’, was released in October, 20122.

David Thompson was one of Sydney’s most acclaimed chefs and owner of Darley Street Thai. He has moved to London and established the award winning Nahm, at the posh Halkin Hotel in Belgravia.

Peter Gordon, a native New Zealander is co-owner of The Providores and Tapa Room. The menu is certainly unique with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influences together with European and Asian. His lamb stew with saffron and yoghurt is one of the most frequently ordered dishes.
